Truly Victorian 121: 1879 Petticoat with Detachable Train Truly Victorian 108: Grand Bustle. This petticoat bustle is based on an actual garment as seen in Harper's Bazaar magazine. This pattern will create a large sized bustle, perfect for the large, almost hoop-like fashions of 1869-1875. This petticoat has a center front closure, and 5 hoop bones built into the back, and two bones around the entire hem. This design allows for structural support for heavy skirts combined with ease of movement and wearability (you can sit down without making any adjustments to the bustle!!) This petticoat will also fold flat for ease of storage.

Victorian 202: 1869 Grand Parlor Skirt. Truly Victorian 202: 1869 Grand Parlor Skirt. This skirt is of the style used during the transitional period of 1868 to 1872, when the hoop was giving way to the bustle. It is designed to be worn over TV108 Grand Bustle, or a small elliptical hoop. The very full skirt is fitted to the waist in front, with the extra fullness shifted to the back. It has the traditional five gores and a full width in back. The placket is in the left side back seam. A pocket is in the right side seam. The hem is floor length in front, gets longer at the sides and is demi trained with an 8" sweep in back.

TV244 - 1859 Double Skirt. Truly Victorian 244: 1859 Double Skirt. This skirt has two layers, just the name implies. The skirt lining has a flounce added to give plenty of fullness over a hoop. The upper skirt covers the lining and the top of the flounce. Fits all sizes.

TV246 -1854 Petal Ball Gown skirt. Truly Victorian 246: 1854 Petal Ball Gown skirt. A beautiful pre-hoop skirt. The underskirt lining has a deep flounce to give lots of fullness. The upper "petals" fall gracefully over the skirt.

TV247 Truly Victorian 247: 1865 Elliptical Skirt

This skirt is of the style used during late and post Civil War period. It is designed to be worn over TV103, Elliptical Cage Crinoline. The front and sides are gored, fitted to the waist with a pleat at each seam. The full back is tightly gathered into a few inches. This skirt has 9 panels in all, and is about 185" at the hem The placket is in the center back seam. A pocket is in the right side seam. The hem is 42" long in front, lengthening in back to 49", for floor length all around the elliptical cage.

The placket is in the left side back seam. An optional 12" ruffle can be added to the hem. The back can be bouffant, or plain. This skirt is suitable for 1883-1889. Fits over a bustle.

TV264 Truly Victorian 264: 1883 Riding Habit Skirt.

This Riding skirt, also known as a habit train, was worn while riding sidesaddle. It was drafted based on a tailoring guide from 1883, and is historically correct for 1880-1885. It is shorter on the left hand side, longer on the right hand side, and shaped to fit over the right knee. When in the saddle, the hem should hang level front to back. For walking, the right knee has a loop which attaches to a button at the center back. When looped up the skirt becomes floor length all around, and drapes prettily on the right hip.

This skirt is the classic can-can skirt of the 1890's. Calf length, it is a full circle skirt, with a lining loaded with ruffles. Center back closure. This skirt is suitable for dance hall and saloon wear.

Truly Victorian 290: 1885 Four-Gore Underskirt Truly Victorian 290: 1889 Draped Skirt. All of the drapes are created by pleats off of the waistband. The closure is in the center back. This skirt can also be made into an overskirt by bunching up the sides. This style was popular in the very late 1880's, and fits over a bustle.

TV291 Truly Victorian 291: 1898 Walking Skirt.

This skirt pattern is taken from an original Metropolitan Pattern Co. pattern of 1898. It consists of 7 gores, with gathers at the center back. It is moderatly full and has hem facings for added support. The closure is at the center back . This shape is suitable as a basic walking skirt from 1892-1900.

TV292 - 1893 Bell Skirt. Truly Victorian 292: 1893 Bell Skirt. This skirt gives the beautiful A-line of the 1890's. It has a gored front. The sides are fitted with a dart, and the back is pleated very full into the center back. The seam across the middle back is historically correct. Comes in two train lengths. The closure is in the center back. Multi-sized.

Ripple Skirt Truly Victorian 296: 1895 Ripple Skirt. This skirt is the 1890's at it's best. The hem is a full 6 yards around, with gored seams to fit smoothly at the waist. Three godets in back are in box pleats, while the full side gores fall in graceful ripples. The closure is hidden under the box pleats at the left side back.

TV297 Truly Victorian 297: 1898 Flared Skirt

This skirt is drafted based on a drafting method taken from a turn-of-the-century tailoring guide. The front panel extends the full length of the skirt, while the sides and back are cut with a fitted upper section and a tapered flare to add fullness at the hem. It has box pleats on either side of the center back closure. An optional kick pleat can be added to the front seams at the hem. This style of skirt was extremely popular from 1898-1903, and can be used for both day and evening wear.

TV297 Truly Victorian 299: 1901 Split Skirt

This pattern for a split skirt is taken from a tailoring guide of 1901. The Split Riding Skirt is ankle length, and the Bicycle Skirt is calf length. The center front has buttons to close the split. The center back has double box pleats to hide the split legs. There are two side front plackets with flaps for the closure.

This skirt is suitable for riding, hiking, bicycling, hunting, and other sporting outfits.

The front consists of an apron and pannier. The apron drapes to two points with pleats at the center front and sides. Over this is a pannier, which fans to the sides. The back is left to hang in low swags, and has a square tail for floor length skirts, or is in an oval for trained skirts.

Truly Victorian 361: 1880's Butterfly Detachable Train is a separate garment that attaches to any existing skirt, forming a bow or "butterfly" at the back of the bodice and then falling gracefully to the floor in poufs. This train was very popular in 1883-1887. It is perfect for a wedding gown, or turning a floor length dress into an evening showpiece.

Truly Victorian 362: 1884 Wash Overskirt The pointed front apron is attached to the sides, the edges form casings for tie strings which lift the sides and apron, giving a beautiful swag and rear puffs. The sides split at the center front and continue to the back without a seam, having a center back seam and closure. Can be made from a single fabric or of two fabrics, for a beautiful layered look.

The back is bouffant, with the sides falling in folds to make a nice uneven hem line. The closure is in the center front. Underskirt not included.

Overskirt Truly Victorian 374: 1886 Bordered Asymetrical Overskirt. Truly Victorian's most ingenious skirt yet, it is sure to stand out in a crowd. Best suited for bordered or edged fabrics, including lace, eyelet, border prints, and cut work.
The apron starts with the border high on the left hip, and falls in graceful folds to the hem on the right side. On the right side hip is a beautiful fan of pleats, giving a rumpled effect to the apron. Four burnouse pleats make the back bouffant with only 45" wide fabric.

Truly Victorian 401: 1870 Blouse Waist. Truly Victorian 401: 1870 Blouse Waist This is a loose fitting blouse, in a style commonly worn as a summer garment from 1870-1872. It is perfect for sheer or light weight fabrics, and is unlined and not boned. Can be made with a high neck (view A) or open "V" neck with frill (view B). The sleeve is fitted to the elbow with a ruffle headed with a puffing, to give lots of fullness to the wrist. Can be made to tuck in, or with a waistband, both historically correct. Button front closure.

Truly Victorian 441: 1861 Garibaldi Blouse. Truly Victorian 441 1861 Garibaldi Blouse. This is a loose fitting blouse, which first appeared in 1861, as a female version of a soldier's uniform worn during the Civil War. Originally, it was of red wool with trimmings across the shoulders, down the center front, around the belt, and at the cuffs. This blouse was gathered into a waistband, and worn over the skirts. By 1862, the term "Garibaldi" began to be used for any loose blouse with bishop sleeves.

TV442: 1860's Ballgown Bodice. Truly Victorian 442: 1860's Ballgown Bodice. This off-the shoulder bodice has a pointed front and back. The sleeve is a small pouf with fitted lining. A gathered bertha and shoulder bows decorate the neckline. The center back closes with hooks and eyes.

Truly Victorian 443: 1861 Dress Bodice. Truly Victorian 443: 1861 Dress Bodice. This bodice is a Dress Bodice, or formal style, worn in 1861. It has two points in front, and three points in the back. The center front is cut on the straight of grain, for use with plaids and stripes. Has dropped shoulder, and narrow T-back styling. The sleeve is wide at the elbow, tapered to the wrist, and lightly gathered at the top. This style of pointed bodice was very popular until 1866, with a narrow sleeve the only changes being made.

Truly Victorian 461: 1880's Yoked Blouse. Truly Victorian 461: 1880's Yoked Blouse.

This is a loose fitting blouse, in a style commonly worn as a summer garment from 1878-1889. It is perfect for sheer or light weight fabrics, and is unlined and not boned. It has a yoked front and back, with plenty of fullness around the body for every body type, even maternity. Buttoned down the center front, with a small round, rolled collar. The sleeve is a 2-piece sleeve, with a little extra room above the elbow, yet fitted to the wrist. The blouse was commonly worn tucked into the skirt, but was also seen worn belted over the skirt.

The blouse is drafted based on a tailoring method actually used in the 1870's. Each size is hand drawn, not scaled. All of the blouse seams are true to the era, and can be worn with or without a corset.

The neck can be either high with a mandarin collar, or a low diamond with a half collar. The narrow two-piece sleeve is in full or 3/4 length. Double box pleats add lots of fullness to the "Waterfall" back. Fits best over a bustle.

Truly Victorian 463: 1884 French Vest Bodice. Truly Victorian 463: 1884 French Vest Bodice.

This bodice is designed after styles shown in many fashion magazines of 1884. The front of this bodice has a simulated vest portion. This vest can be of a different fabric and trimmed to effect. The front outline is pointed and the sides curve upward over the hip. The back and side-back have short "tails" that lay in loose box pleats to fit over any size bustle. The sleeve is in 2 pieces, and can be made either full, princess, or 3/4-length. There is a double Military collar, which can also be made of separate fabric, to continue the vest effect.

Truly Victorian 464: 1883 Riding Habit Bodice. Truly Victorian 464: 1883 Riding Habit Bodice.

This is a double breasted habit bodice taken from an 1883 tailoring guide. This was one style that was very popular during the late bustle era, and is suitable for 1882-1889. It has a roll collar/lapel, double points in the front, and square tail with a center back vent. The 2-piece coat sleeve is very slim, with a slightly full head. Combine this bodice with TV264 -1883 Habit Skirt for riding outfit. Or wear it with a regular skirt and overskirt for a tailored day dress.

TV490 - 1892 Ball Gown Bodice. Truly Victorian 490: 1892 Ball Gown Bodice This bodice fits smoothly over a corset with a pointed front and back. The neck is rounded and the closure is in the center back. The pouf sleeve is formed in chrysanthemum style. Does not fit over bustle.

Truly Victorian 491: 1893 Blouse Waist. Truly Victorian 491: 1893 Blouse Waist.

This is a basic gathered Blouse Waist, which was popular in 1893. It has a gathered front and back, with a fitted lining. The center front is cut on the straight of grain, for use with plaids and stripes. The sleeve is the Balloon Sleeve, popular in 1893-94, and has a fitted lining. The Jabot is removable. The gathered blouse waist style was popular from the 1880s, and with a different sleeve, can easily be adapted to the late bustle era. Or, left sleeveless, it can be used effectively as a "vest" for wear under jackets for an 1880-1900 look.

Truly Victorian 492: 1890's Victorian Corselets. Truly Victorian 492: 1890's Victorian Corselets.

The Truly Victorian Corselet is designed to be worn on the outside, similar to a wide belt, and shaped to fit snug to the body. This pattern contains two corselets, one tall and one short. Both extend below the waist a few inches and have points in front and back. They both lace at the center back. The short corset is 4" wide at the side and 8" center front and back. The tall corset is 6" wide at the sides and 9 1/2" at the front and back. Fully boned, this corselet will retain the perfect shape through extended wear. They can fit with or without a bustle.

Contains patterns for five different 1890's sleeves, for both day and evening, including: large evening puffs, Leg-'O-Mutton (moderate), fitted sleeve with over puff, Two-Piece Gigot (huge), and fitted lining. Add to any bodice or jacket to create the perfect 90's look.

Truly Victorian 498: 1898 Eton Jacket. Truly Victorian 498: 1898 Eton Jacket.

This is a semi-fitted jacket that hangs open in the front, usually worn over a blouse. It has two styles, one crop length with a rounded collar. The other, waist length with a square collar. The main body is in three pieces, Back, Side Back, and Front. The front is fitted with a single dart. The sleeve is in two pieces, fitted to well above the elbow and with a full sleeve head. Fully lined, this jacket is not boned, and can be worn with or without a corset. With the sleeve as given, this style is suitable for 1889-1893 and 1897-1899. By changing sleeves with pattern TV495, this jacket can also be perfect for 1894-1896.

 Truly Victorian 500: Talma Wrap. Truly Victorian 500: Talma Wrap. A talma is a type of wrap with a fitted back held in place by a hidden belt. The front is loose with a center front closure. The "sleeves" hang in long points on each side. A box pleat in the back fits over a bustle.

Truly Victorian 501: 1871 Belted Mantle. Truly Victorian 501: 1871 Belted Mantle.

This mantle is taken from the 1871 Butterick Pattern Catalog. It has a semi fitted back, held in place by a belt around the waist, with pleats and slits to fit over a bustle. The front is also belted and has two points. The mantle sides fall gracefully over the arm to give a "flowing sleeve" effect. A pointed collar add detail to the neckline. The center front is closed with buttons.

Truly Victorian 590: 1890's Cape. Truly Victorian 590: 1890's Cape.

This elbow length cape was seen throughout the 1890's as the basic wrap of the times. It is cut in the Military style, also known as the 3/4 Cape. It can be cut with a straight or scalloped hem. The revers at the center front are optional. The collar is the stand-with-flair style, with wires to support the shape. The lining fabric is seen at the inside collar and optional reveres.

This pattern provides for a fully lined cape, and it can be interlined with flannel for warmth. The closure can be cloak clasps, coat hooks, or frogs, as desired.

Truly Victorian 600: 1869 Princess Dress. Truly Victorian 600: 1869 Princess Dress.

This design is taken from an original pattern given in an 1869 La Mode Illustre. It was stated as for girls ages 2-4 years old. It has the front of the dress in princess lines, with the back and sides having an attached skirt. The waist line is slightly above the natural waist. The skirt is very full in the center back, fitting smoothly on the sides. It has a square neckline, and a center back button closure. The sleeve is a full length 2-piece sleeve. The dress back has a belt that can be adjusted with a button to make the garment fit more closely if desired.
