Victorian 121: 1879 Petticoat with Detachable Train Truly Victorian 121: 1879 Petticoat with Detachable Train. This skirt gives support behind the knees for tied-back style skirts of 1877-1882. It is slim in front, with netting to hold the back with a center front closure. A detachable train buttons onto the hem of the petticoat. Natural Form, does not fit over bustle.

Truly Victorian 362: 1884 Wash Overskirt. Truly Victorian 362: 1884 Wash Overskirt The pointed front apron is attached to the sides, the edges form casings for tie strings which lift the sides and apron, giving a beautiful swag and rear puffs. The sides split at the center front and continue to the back without a seam, having a center back seam and closure. Can be made from a single fabric or of two fabrics, for a beautiful layered look.

Truly Victorian 363: 1887 Summer Overskirt Truly Victorian 363 - 1887 Summer Overskirt. The front drapes just overlap in the center front and the sides are pulled high up onto the hips. The back is bouffant, with the sides falling in folds to make a nice uneven hem line. The closure is in the center front. Underskirt not included.

Overskirt Truly Victorian 374: 1886 Bordered Asymetrical Overskirt. Truly Victorian's most ingenious skirt yet, it is sure to stand out in a crowd. Best suited for bordered or edged fabrics, including lace, eyelet, border prints, and cut work.
The apron starts with the border high on the left hip, and falls in graceful folds to the hem on the right side. On the right side hip is a beautiful fan of pleats, giving a rumpled effect to the apron. Four burnouse pleats make the back bouffant with only 45" wide fabric.

Truly Victorian 401: 1870 Blouse Waist. Truly Victorian 401: 1870 Blouse Waist This is a loose fitting blouse, in a style commonly worn as a summer garment from 1870-1872. It is perfect for sheer or light weight fabrics, and is unlined and not boned. Can be made with a high neck (view A) or open "V" neck with frill (view B). The sleeve is fitted to the elbow with a ruffle headed with a puffing, to give lots of fullness to the wrist. Can be made to tuck in, or with a waistband, both historically correct. Button front closure.

Truly Victorian 441: 1861 Garibaldi Blouse. Truly Victorian 441 1861 Garibaldi Blouse. This is a loose fitting blouse, which first appeared in 1861, as a female version of a soldier's uniform worn during the Civil War. Originally, it was of red wool with trimmings across the shoulders, down the center front, around the belt, and at the cuffs. This blouse was gathered into a waistband, and worn over the skirts. By 1862, the term "Garibaldi" began to be used for any loose blouse with bishop sleeves.

TV442: 1860's Ballgown Bodice. Truly Victorian 442: 1860's Ballgown Bodice. This off-the shoulder bodice has a pointed front and back. The sleeve is a small pouf with fitted lining. A gathered bertha and shoulder bows decorate the neckline. The center back closes with hooks and eyes.

Truly Victorian 443: 1861 Dress Bodice. Truly Victorian 443: 1861 Dress Bodice. This bodice is a Dress Bodice, or formal style, worn in 1861. It has two points in front, and three points in the back. The center front is cut on the straight of grain, for use with plaids and stripes. Has dropped shoulder, and narrow T-back styling. The sleeve is wide at the elbow, tapered to the wrist, and lightly gathered at the top. This style of pointed bodice was very popular until 1866, with a narrow sleeve the only changes being made.

Truly Victorian 461: 1880's Yoked Blouse. Truly Victorian 461: 1880's Yoked Blouse.

This is a loose fitting blouse, in a style commonly worn as a summer garment from 1878-1889. It is perfect for sheer or light weight fabrics, and is unlined and not boned. It has a yoked front and back, with plenty of fullness around the body for every body type, even maternity. Buttoned down the center front, with a small round, rolled collar. The sleeve is a 2-piece sleeve, with a little extra room above the elbow, yet fitted to the wrist. The blouse was commonly worn tucked into the skirt, but was also seen worn belted over the skirt.

The blouse is drafted based on a tailoring method actually used in the 1870's. Each size is hand drawn, not scaled. All of the blouse seams are true to the era, and can be worn with or without a corset.

Truly Victorian 462: 1883 Tail Bodice Truly Victorian 462: 1883 Tail Bodice. The font is like a Curaiss bodice. The neck can be either high with a mandarin collar, or a low diamond with a half collar. The narrow two-piece sleeve is in full or 3/4 length. Double box pleats add lots of fullness to the "Waterfall" back. Fits best over a bustle.

Truly Victorian 463: 1884 French Vest Bodice. Truly Victorian 463: 1884 French Vest Bodice.

This bodice is designed after styles shown in many fashion magazines of 1884. The front of this bodice has a simulated vest portion. This vest can be of a different fabric and trimmed to effect. The front outline is pointed and the sides curve upward over the hip. The back and side-back have short "tails" that lay in loose box pleats to fit over any size bustle. The sleeve is in 2 pieces, and can be made either full, princess, or 3/4-length. There is a double Military collar, which can also be made of separate fabric, to continue the vest effect.

Truly Victorian 464: 1883 Riding Habit Bodice. Truly Victorian 464: 1883 Riding Habit Bodice.

This is a double breasted habit bodice taken from an 1883 tailoring guide. This was one style that was very popular during the late bustle era, and is suitable for 1882-1889. It has a roll collar/lapel, double points in the front, and square tail with a center back vent. The 2-piece coat sleeve is very slim, with a slightly full head. Combine this bodice with TV264 -1883 Habit Skirt for riding outfit. Or wear it with a regular skirt and overskirt for a tailored day dress.

TV490 - 1892 Ball Gown Bodice. Truly Victorian 490: 1892 Ball Gown Bodice This bodice fits smoothly over a corset with a pointed front and back. The neck is rounded and the closure is in the center back. The pouf sleeve is formed in chrysanthemum style. Does not fit over bustle.

Truly Victorian 491: 1893 Blouse Waist. Truly Victorian 491: 1893 Blouse Waist.

This is a basic gathered Blouse Waist, which was popular in 1893. It has a gathered front and back, with a fitted lining. The center front is cut on the straight of grain, for use with plaids and stripes. The sleeve is the Balloon Sleeve, popular in 1893-94, and has a fitted lining. The Jabot is removable. The gathered blouse waist style was popular from the 1880s, and with a different sleeve, can easily be adapted to the late bustle era. Or, left sleeveless, it can be used effectively as a "vest" for wear under jackets for an 1880-1900 look.

Truly Victorian 492: 1890's Victorian Corselets. Truly Victorian 492: 1890's Victorian Corselets.

The Truly Victorian Corselet is designed to be worn on the outside, similar to a wide belt, and shaped to fit snug to the body. This pattern contains two corselets, one tall and one short. Both extend below the waist a few inches and have points in front and back. They both lace at the center back. The short corset is 4" wide at the side and 8" center front and back. The tall corset is 6" wide at the sides and 9 1/2" at the front and back. Fully boned, this corselet will retain the perfect shape through extended wear. They can fit with or without a bustle.

Contains patterns for five different 1890's sleeves, for both day and evening, including: large evening puffs, Leg-'O-Mutton (moderate), fitted sleeve with over puff, Two-Piece Gigot (huge), and fitted lining. Add to any bodice or jacket to create the perfect 90's look.

Truly Victorian 498: 1898 Eton Jacket. Truly Victorian 498: 1898 Eton Jacket.

This is a semi-fitted jacket that hangs open in the front, usually worn over a blouse. It has two styles, one crop length with a rounded collar. The other, waist length with a square collar. The main body is in three pieces, Back, Side Back, and Front. The front is fitted with a single dart. The sleeve is in two pieces, fitted to well above the elbow and with a full sleeve head. Fully lined, this jacket is not boned, and can be worn with or without a corset. With the sleeve as given, this style is suitable for 1889-1893 and 1897-1899. By changing sleeves with pattern TV495, this jacket can also be perfect for 1894-1896.

 Truly Victorian 500: Talma Wrap. Truly Victorian 500: Talma Wrap. A talma is a type of wrap with a fitted back held in place by a hidden belt. The front is loose with a center front closure. The "sleeves" hang in long points on each side. A box pleat in the back fits over a bustle.

Truly Victorian 501: 1871 Belted Mantle. Truly Victorian 501: 1871 Belted Mantle.

This mantle is taken from the 1871 Butterick Pattern Catalog. It has a semi fitted back, held in place by a belt around the waist, with pleats and slits to fit over a bustle. The front is also belted and has two points. The mantle sides fall gracefully over the arm to give a "flowing sleeve" effect. A pointed collar add detail to the neckline. The center front is closed with buttons.

Truly Victorian 590: 1890's Cape. Truly Victorian 590: 1890's Cape.

This elbow length cape was seen throughout the 1890's as the basic wrap of the times. It is cut in the Military style, also known as the 3/4 Cape. It can be cut with a straight or scalloped hem. The revers at the center front are optional. The collar is the stand-with-flair style, with wires to support the shape. The lining fabric is seen at the inside collar and optional reveres.

This pattern provides for a fully lined cape, and it can be interlined with flannel for warmth. The closure can be cloak clasps, coat hooks, or frogs, as desired.

Truly Victorian 600: 1869 Princess Dress. Truly Victorian 600: 1869 Princess Dress.

This design is taken from an original pattern given in an 1869 La Mode Illustre. It was stated as for girls ages 2-4 years old. It has the front of the dress in princess lines, with the back and sides having an attached skirt. The waist line is slightly above the natural waist. The skirt is very full in the center back, fitting smoothly on the sides. It has a square neckline, and a center back button closure. The sleeve is a full length 2-piece sleeve. The dress back has a belt that can be adjusted with a button to make the garment fit more closely if desired.
