Alter Years PAY010 Easy Peasant Shirt/Chemise
This pattern lets you create the all-purpose undergarment worn by both men and women during the Renaissance. This garment was worn under bodices and doublets alike and differed principally in length: women wearing them longer, and men generally shorter so the bottom could tuck into the breeches. The two length options included are just below the hips, or just above the knee, but you may lengthen or shorten to your own taste. This pattern features three neckline options. You may choose a drawstring casing or cased elastic for a smooth neckline or drawstring-created ruffled neckline. The large sleeves are gathered into one of two options: a smooth banded cuff or a self ruffle.
This garment is a relatively loose fitting garment and some people prefer their chemise looser than others. Choose the appropriate cutting line by comparing your bust/chest measurements to the size chart. If you like a lot of room in your shirt, then choose the next size up.
The pattern includes sizes from a 32 inch chest through a 52 inch chest.
