Sense & Sensibility 13: Sense and Sensibility 13: Regency Underthings

Here are the underpinnings you need to give you the proper Regency foundation! This package includes patterns for a chemise, short stays, and two chemisettes. The chemise was modeled from original garments in several museum collections and features an adjustable drawstring neckline and gussets under the arms for a comfortable fit.

Some parts of the pattern are rated "intermediate," like the stays, but the chemise and chemisettes are simple enough for a beginniner. Do note that the short stays will not offer ample enough support for sizes "DD" and above. The designer of this pattern would instead recommend "the excellent Regency Stays pattern by The Mantua Maker," which is for longer (hip-length) stays and can be easily modified to support larger cup sizes.

Laughing Moon 102: 1870-1905 Petticoat in Three Lengths/P

Three lengths, Walking, Short Train, Long Train (long train shown)

The petticoat was made to go under Laughing Moon #101 (without bustle), but it is so much more. As part of a costume it could be worn under many skirtstyles from 1870 to early 1900's. This shape of bustle could be worn over it during the period 1870-1877 and again from 1883-1887.  The sturdy bustle is stuffed - no wires!

The petticoat could also make a fabulous modern skirt. Imagine the panels and yoke made up in different complementary fabrics.  The slimming yoke moves fullness away from the waist and hips and then flares into a flattering twirl.

Victorian petticoat or modern skirt has dartless yoke front and back, skirt gores at center front, side front and back, and gathered back panels. Back opening has period placket or modern zipper.  Optional ruffle at the bottom and 3 hem lengths, walking, short train and long train.

Bustle is sized in S, M, L, XL (all included).
